The Monkey Ate My Homework

We were so lucky to have had a wonderful family staying with us during lockdown, and one of these guests titled her Instagram post, 'The Monkey ate my homework'. Pure genius! We bet every local student wishes that they'd thought of this one, and the thing is, it’s very feasible that it did, they can be very naughty.

The green monkeys found in Barbados originally came from Senegal and the Gambia in West Africa approximately 350 years ago. About 75 generations have occurred since these monkeys arrived in Barbados and, as a result of environmental differences and evolution, the Barbados monkeys today have different characteristics than those in West Africa.

The monkeys are found mainly in the parishes of St. John, St. Joseph, St. Andrew and St. Thomas where there is still a great deal of natural woodland vegetation, but you do often see them in St. Peter and St. James where we are located.
